While intentionally living with fewer material possessions isn't for everyone, I do believe a minimalist mindset is. Choosing to reduce the number of decisions you make in a day is just one of many minimalist principle that can help you live lighter and reserve your energy for the things that matter. These words by Lisa Avellan of @simpleandsoul sum it up perfectly❤️ New on the blog this week: Why EVERYONE Should Adopt These 3 Minimalist Principles (link in profile) Which areas of your life if intentionally simplified, would reduce the number of decisions you make and free you up to find more joy, calm and purpose in your day? .

“Do not eat soup with your fingers.” These are words I never thought I’d have to say, yet here we are. #boymom 11 years ago today, this not so little guy made me a mom. On top of making me have to encourage the most obvious of table manners 🤷🏻‍♀️, he’s managed to turn me into a hunter 🦌 and somehow has become my most “minimalist” child. Just 4 years ago, t-shirt tags and restaurant coasters were practically valuable currency to him. Now he’s all about #lessbutbetter My favorite quote of his is this, “I don’t have a dream home, I have dream property 🏕🦌⛰🎣.” Happy Birthday to this master of wit in the making. ❤️ I love you dearly. #minimalistmom #experiencesoverthings #lessstuffmoreadventure #adventurewithkids #minimalistfamily
Dear parents on a mission to go minimalist, If you’re hoping that going minimalist will lead to less mess, that’s exactly what you’ll find. 💪🙌 However, if you’re going minimalist in hopes it will lead to NO MESS, then I’m afraid you’re going to be very, very disappointed. 🙋🏻‍♀️ I tried that no mess minimalist family life and it does nothing but keep your attention hyper focused on your stuff, and how your minimalism looks 👀 💁🏻‍♀️ from the outside. Remember, minimalism doesn’t mean always tidy, it just means easily tidied. #messyminimalism #minimalismwithkids #minimalistfamily #becomingminimalist #declutteryourlife #embracethemess #tidyup #seekingsimplicity #simplify
These 12 words by @joshua_becker are the ones that sealed the deal for me 4 years ago. The very things I wanted most out of life...adventure, peace, purpose, presence, connection and meaning... were buried beneath the accumulation, the upkeep, the pursuit of more, better, newer, and nicer stuff. Today is the perfect day to ask yourself: Is your excess stuff distracting you from the life you long for? #minimalist #lessisnow #becomingminimalist #declutteryourlife #declutteryourhome #lessstuffmoreadventure #minimalistmom #simplicity #messyminimalism

We hope you had the Merriest Christmas. 🎄❤️🎄 With love, The Crawfords.
Christmas is coming friend. I was a little nervous leading up to the holidays because we prefer to put an emphasis on #experiencesoverthings as gifts, but this year most of our favorite experience gift ideas are off the table. On top of that, I was worried our family members were going to overcompensate for their lack of quality time by gifting a truck load of stuff. Then I remembered that, however it unfolds, my #minimalisthome is prepared for this. When your space isn't already bursting at the seams, and your closets contain plenty of white space, there is room for the influx that occurs around Christmas and Birthdays. It's not my job to control how people give gifts to my kids during the holidays. It's just my job to be an intentional giver myself, and keep a home that serves us. #lessstuffmorelife #lessismore #minimalistfamily #declutteryourlife #becomingminimalist #minimalism #declutteryourhome
If 2020 has taught me anything it's how to pivot. I've always prefered to do things the exact same way, taking on a whole, "If it's not broke, don't fix it," kind of approach. This year though, it all broke. Every good habit was challenged, and all the growth we'd made in specific areas, overturned. Just when we thought we had it figured out again, we were smacked in the face with the reality that we didn't. We had to constantly choose between falling apart and pivoting. Whether it was to continue making big strides, stay on track in the smallest ways, maintain our sanity or to simply find joy during a year that seemed bent on wrecking our best efforts at finding just that, we've had to do many things differently this year. From our work schedule, how our kids are educated, and the groceries we buy down to our smallest holiday traditions, everything's had to shift one way or another this year. Here's my son and husband working to cut down my first real Christmas tree in 14 years. Something my husband swore we'd never do again. (It's a long story, but the last time we cut down a tree was a total, epic disaster.) Besides, he's never been a fan of merry moments in the freezing cold. But what better year than this to start a new holiday tradition? While this year certainly hasn't been our all around favorite year, we've grown a lot both individually and as a family because of it. We've adapted in ways I didn't know possible. Let's take a moment to be proud of ourselves for enduring the year we have. I'd love to hear one of the ways you found a way to pivot this year? It doesn't have to be huge, and it may not have been executed with absolute precision, 🤗 but I don't think it's ever supposed to be.
I'll go first. 🙋🏻‍♀️ I figured out how to stay focused writing👩🏻‍💻my book in the afternoon, not just first thing in the morning as I’ve always preferred. What about you?
I’m a big fan of a clutter free fireplace mantle, but there’s no better reason to clutter one up (temporarily of course😜) than with #perfectlyimperfect gingerbread houses, a stocking hung for a pet fish with scotch tape and my son’s Christmas wish list at age 4 painted for me as a gift by my sister-in-law. 😍(Swipe to read up close).
